Groupage, part load & dedicated trailers

Groupage, LTL & FTL

European groupage, less-than-truckload and full-truckload transport selected around pallet footprint, transit time, handling risk and commercial priority.

How the service is planned

Built from the cargo data, route and delivery requirement.

The cheapest line on a tariff is not always the right movement. Carnigo compares depot-based groupage, part-load space and dedicated FTL against the cargo dimensions, stackability, delivery booking and customs route, then keeps one operational contact across every handover.

Service comparison

Groupage, LTL or FTL: what changes?

The correct service depends on more than pallet count. Density, stackability, collection flexibility, delivery access and the cost of extra handling all affect the final choice.

01Groupage

Typically 1–5 pallets

Shared network capacity

Best for cost-led shipments that can move through collection and destination depots on scheduled departures.

02LTL / part load

Several pallets to substantial trailer space

Shared or direct routing

Useful when cargo is too large, dense or sensitive for standard groupage but does not require a full trailer.

03FTL

Up to 33 Euro / 26 UK pallets

Dedicated 13.6 m trailer

The trailer is allocated to the load, reducing handling and giving tighter control over routing and delivery timing.

Planning note: Ranges are indicative. Oversized, non-stackable, high-value or fragile cargo may need more vehicle space or a dedicated movement.

Documents and data

The references behind the movement.

Transport paperwork, customs data and shipment instructions must describe the same goods. Carnigo follows those links through the operating chain.

LOAD DATA

Dimensions and stackability

Pallet footprint, height, weight and whether another pallet can be placed above determine the chargeable space.

CMR

Road consignment note

The CMR carries the core carriage information and should match the commercial and customs documents.

MRN

Customs movement reference

For cross-border jobs, the relevant export, import or transit reference is linked to the correct movement.

POD

Delivery evidence

Signed POD, exceptions and delivery notes are followed through after the final booking.

Trusted partner network

Wider capacity. Comparable rates. One Carnigo contact.

Carnigo uses a broad mix of consolidation partners and direct hauliers. That lets us compare scheduled network pricing with flexible part-load and full-trailer rates instead of forcing every shipment into one system.

Operational scope

What Carnigo coordinates.

Each booking is built around the confirmed cargo, route, Incoterms, equipment and border process. Responsibilities and handovers are made clear before movement.
